a curtain for the shower.....
Well internet people I have a confession to make...
I want this....
A cotton ruffled shower curtain from Urban Outfitters.
There are 2 potential problems with this:
1. It is $68 - and you guessed it - I cannot bring myself to ever pay $68 for a shower curtain.
2. I already have a surplus of shower curtains.
You see - I have this nude colored shower curtain that I have had for a few years that I have used the entire time. It is a nice shower curtain .. I mean it has served me well.. but I know it is time to retire it.
However I also have an cool IKEA shower curtain in my guest bathroom (never actually been used for a shower)
It is a fine shower curtain - and I have to say that this is not the greatest picture of it.
And I still have a yellow shower curtain that I have had for a while that I do not use anymore... It is just solid yellow - plain shower curtain, but nice... I was saving it for my little sister when I thought she was moving out on her own - but she hasn't quite gotten there yet. So I have it in the sister box for now. (just a note - the sister box is becoming boxes - and I am wondering if I need to give up on it for now and find her new stuff when she is ready to live on her own)
In the meantime - I have been spying white shower curtains that I want... there was this really pretty white waffle shower curtain at Target. It was $26 and I am too cheap for that... I didn't need it - and why spend money because I don't need it. Well Cody and I were cruising Target the other day and found this shower curtain for $12... Oh I was so excited - Just because it was the one I wanted and it was only $12..... So I bought it.
And there is one more new shower curtain - but that is another story....
Next on my shower list - is one of those shower curtain rods like that have at hotels that curves out so the shower curtain liner never touches you... (I hate to be touched by the shower curtain)
Granny if you are reading this - Just ignore the feelings you have about me having too many shower curtains I don't need - but do you think you could sew some window curtains that look like the first shower curtain. I will not be buying the $68 shower curtain.

since I was 7...
Since I was 7 or 8 years old - my favorite movie has been Footloose. I am not convinced that I liked this movie because it was cinematic masterpiece(haha) or because there was just something that random that a 7 year old identified with. Maybe it was the music?...The footloose soundtrack was the first cassette tape I ever owned after I got my first Walkman. I even had a purple shirt that had Footloose printed on the front in that Footloose font.
This was one of my favorite scene from the movie. I always dreamed of doing this stunt even though I am too much of a chicken to ever try it.
That Sammy Hagar song was perfect for that scene - don't you think?
Did you see Sarah Jessica Parker?

Long time... no post...
Well those of you that know me know that I have been really busy at work as this is my busy time... So there has been little time for blogs or really anything else for that matter. I have only seen my cute niece 2 times this year and one of those time was New Year's Day!!! Geez I miss her.
Also it has been such a snowy year so far - especially for the Southeast.. And it always seems to snow on the busiest days at work.. which makes it harder when folks don't show up.
Anyway I saw this on etsy the other day and I think it is lovely... The shop is SarahandBendrix - hmm kinda sounds familiar...

little sister..vintage jewelry...
This is my little sister circa 1990 adorned with all kinds of vintage costume jewelry. Being about 13 at the time - I had no idea they were "vintage" - I just knew some old lady gave them to us to play dress up. All I wanted to do was dress up this cute little baby and take photos and she was always so cooperative.
We had so much fun playing taking fun pictures over the years.
..

Annie - It is your turn now. I can't wait.

she's here...
Wednesday, 9.16.09, my sweet angel-of-a-niece, Annie Hope was born. I've never been much of one for stealing things, but it took everything within me not to take her with me when I left the hospital. She really is a beautiful little girl.
My sweet sister was a total champion while she went through the almost 19-hour labor process - even though after almost and hour and a half of hard pushing - she ended up having a C-section. At 7:54pm Annie made her appearance. It was so precious and sweet.
Annie is so perfect in every way and so already adores her aunt Amanda. I was amazed how she looked at me when she was just about 15 minutes old - it is like she knew that I loved her. I am sure that she has heard her mother tell her about how crazy I am about her.
She weighed 8 lbs and 2 oz and 20.75 inches long. She has a head full of black hair - just like my sister did when she was born. I wish I had a newborn picture of my sister to post - I must scan one soon.
I am so thankful that both my sister and Annie are perfectly healthy and got to leave the hospital this afternoon. I cannot wait for a sleep over!
Annie - I love you to pieces - and you are welcome at my home anytime. I promise to be the best aunt. ever.

lakemont ga...
This old store in Lakemont, Ga was built by my great-grandparents and has become a historical landmark in Rabun County GA. My grandmother was raised in the apartment above the store, which my great uncle and aunt lived in until just a few years ago.
Next door - was the old Lakemont Post Office - where my great-grandmother was the postmater for several years. I know that I don't have all the facts straight and I am sure that my mother will correct me.

Lakemont Georgia is home to Lake Rabun which was built by Georgia Power around 1915 to hold water in reserve for hydroelectric plants to generate electricity for homes and businesses in Atlanta and north Georgia. Now Lake Rabun is a beautiful lake surrounded by many beautiful homes. Today as I browsing my Google reader I came across this post of a pretty wedding on Lake Rabun.
I love Lakemont Ga. I love the nostalgic smell of the trees and water.

the letter people...
How many of you learned to read with the letter people?
I did.
It seems like every week we would study a new letter. I remember when the class was on the letter "Y", the teacher asked us to bring something from home that started with the letter "Y". Guess what I brought to school at the suggestion of my grandmother - yep I brought Yeast. Oh my.
And this song has been stuck in my head since 1st grade and I was ecstatic to find this video on Youtube.
Am I the only one that remembers this?
